In this episode Dr Dahle talks about fiduciaries and financial advisors. The best way to think of the word fiduciary is to think of it as a person that puts your needs ahead of their needs. There are some financial professionals that have a legal fiduciary duty to you but there are a lot of people out there who call themselves financial advisors who don't actually have a fiduciary duty to you. We discuss what you can do when someone does not act as a fiduciary. We also answer your questions about dollar cost averaging, state specific municipal bond funds, and TSPs. I estimate that 80% of doctors need, want, and should use a financial advisor and/or an investment manager. Some investment gurus such as Dr. William Bernstein think my estimate is way too low. At any rate, if you want to use an advisor temporarily or for your entire life, there is no reason to feel guilty about it—just make sure you are getting good advice at a fair price. If you need help updating your financial plan or just getting one in place, check out our list of recommended financial advisors at https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/financial-advisors. You can do this and The White Coat Investor can help.

This episode Dr. Dahle talks about asset allocation. We discuss if your asset allocation should ever change and specifically if it should change in retirement or after you are financially independent. We discuss if it is even worth investing in international when US stocks are doing so well. Bonds continue to disappoint, and we continue to give the same message—stay the course. Once we talked all about asset allocation and investing, we move on to what you do once you have invested your money. You spend it. Funny enough, for some people, spending money is even harder than saving it. There is no point in having money if you are not going to spend it. Live a little! See full show notes here: https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/asset-allocation-international-stocks-bonds-small-and-mid-cap-value-factors-280

Is there such a thing as a recession proof investment? Many listeners are wondering this and asking questions about what to do right now. We don’t like the phrase recession proof investment. It implies you need a different investment strategy depending on what the market is doing. It shouldn't surprise any followers that we don't think this is true. Are we even in a recession? We dive into this question as well as answer your questions about what to do with your money with the current state of the economy. Buy I bonds, savings bonds, pay off rental property mortgages? With a cloudy crystal ball, Dr Spath and Dr. Dahle try to answer your questions in this episode. See full show notes here: https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/recession-proof-investments-278
